Rand McNally's Population Map of the United States, 1892

This blog will feature ways to incorporate maps and geography into your genealogical research. To paraphrase the venerable genealogist, Val Greenwood, most problems in genealogical research come down to boundary issues: finding the right record in the right place. A knowledge of geography and maps can help you locate the record you need to solve a brick wall problem. Throughout the course of this blog I will be introducing maps and geographical sources that will help you in your research as well as review map web sites useful to genealogists.
